3.7. Manufacturers

In Store Manager for VirtueMart, whenever we add a product to the catalog, we also need to assign a manufacturer for that product. In reality, every product has a manufacturer, and for better management of the shop, we should be able to find products by their manufacturer.

Therefore, the first step will be to identify the manufacturers and enter their information in VirtueMart store. We can also categorize the manufacturers as publishers, software developers, and so on.

If you have a lot of manufacturers and want customers to be able to search manufacturers by categories, create them here:

Edit Manufacturer Category Name:

General Information:

• Manufacturer Category ID - for internal use only. ID is a unique manufacturer category identification that cannot be edited.

• Published - Leave this check box blank to hide or enable to make manufacturer category visible to customers in the Manufacturers page.

• Manufacturer Category Name - in this bo, enter the manufacturer's category name that you want to appear to the customer.

• Sef alias - Search engine friendly or human readable addresses, i.e. real words instead of numbers and a jumble of code.

Description - The description you want to appear when customers are searching for this page.

Edit Manufacturer menu:

General Information:

• Published - Leave this check box blank to hide or enable to make manufacturer visible to customers in the Manufacturers page.

• Manufacturer Name - In this box, enter the manufacturer's name that you want to appear to the customer.

• Sef Alias - Search engine friendly or human readable addresses, i.e. real words instead of numbers and a jumble of code. EXAMPLE: yourstore.com/manufacturers-name.

• Manufacturer Category - Select the category for the manufacturer's name from drop-down list.

• Hits - shows how many times manufacturer was viewed by your customers.

• Manufacturer URL and Email - This is option information: Enter the web url of the manufacturer's website and contact email of the manufacturer.

Description - specify a short description about the manufacturer. Use the HTML editor to specify content as you need.

Images - add image that will be displayed in Manufacturers page. Use the options to upload image from local drive at your PC or from external source.
